Cleaning

Pigging is an integral part of a pipeline’s cleaning maintenance. There are many applications and the more common are as follows:

• removing accumulated dirt and other construction debris during the pipeline construction

• Removal of wax, water , corrosion products, acid and bacteria based corrosion, from Crude and Gas pipelines

• Removal of metal objects using a magnetic cleaning pig.

• Soft deposits such as silt, manganese, marine growth, sponges, weeds algae and chemical deposits from water and product lines.

• Removal of harder chemical deposits (detailed in section “Aggressive pigging”)

• Preparation cleaning for Hydrostatic testing

• Preparation cleaning for Intelligent, Kaliper, Geometry and Gauge Pigging

• Detergent and Corrosion inhibitor assisted pig cleaning (see Batching)

• Dual diameter pipeline cleaning

• Assisting in CIP cleaning of Dairy, Food and Beverage Product lines
